About Bollibokka
Picture a wild river spilling from Mt. Shasta's ancient glacier, tunneling through a dramatic gorge banked by alders, cedars and pines. Jutting from the canyon walls are the native plants Bollibokka (Wintu for black manzanita), their blackened-red trunks reaching the stature of full madrones. Nestled at the mouth of this river, Bollibokka serves as the entrance to this world of woods and untamed rivers.
Bollibokka's 10-mile stretch of the McCloud represents the longest river holding on the McCloud River, and is entirely surrounded by the Shasta National Forest.
The Clubhouse & Rock House

Its 1920's Clubhouse has five bedrooms and sleeps ten guests. Adjoining
the Clubhouse is the Log Cabin which houses the historic dining room and
large country kitchen.
Across
the rolling lawn, the Rock House perches at the edge of the river. A river-cobble
cottage with two bedrooms that sleep four more guests, the Rock House is
complete with its own smaller kitchen and dining area; a perfect sanctuary
for the member staying on after departure of the rest of the party.
The Way Station

Located
five miles up-river from the Clubhouse is the three-bedroom Way Station,
which sleeps six guests, and has its own kitchen and dining room. Its exposed
post and beam structure show the intricacies of mortise and tenon workmanship,
undertaken by a German crafts man for Bollibokka. Guests at the Way Station
witness the McCloud forging through its most rugged stretch of terrain -
Tuna Falls and below.
Ten Private Miles of Trout Water
Ten
miles of crystal river tumble through Bollibokka's 4,560 acres, offering
some of the best wild trout fishing in America. New Zealanders are very
familiar with the McCloud. They chose the McCloud Rivers' wild trout for
its beauty and strength to seed their famed trout streams during the late
1800's. Since then, private management by Bollibokka, the McCloud Fly Fishing
Club, the Hearst family and The Nature Conservancy have permitted the wild
trout in the McCloud to thrive without any need for hatchery stocking, and
the river continues wild.
The upper five miles of Bollibokka are set aside for the member and guests taking a week at the Way Station. The lower five miles are reserved for the enjoyment of the member and guests taking their week at the Clubhouse & Rock House area.
The River is also ideal for tubing and brisk swimming. There are miles of trails for exploring on foot or mountain bike. While out and about you may get a glimpse of river otter, osprey, merganser or bald eagle. You might simply want to read a book by the rapids or catch a nap under a Digger Pine. Bollibokka offers the chance to relax and enjoy some of California's remaining treasures.
